WHAT IS THE MAIN BRUSH OF A SWEEPER?

The large and wide sweeping brush of a sweeper is called the main brush or main sweeping brush.
This sweeping brush has the largest capacity due to its size. It is also the sweeper brush that, in a sweeper with a hopper, throws the dirt into the hopper.

WHAT TYPES OF MAIN BRUSHES ARE THERE?

An important distinction with main sweeping brushes is the shape in which the bristles are mounted on the brush. The bristles can be arranged in different patterns. An S-shape or a V-shape are used on many sweepers.
When the sweeping dirt has to be discharged to the side of the machine, main brushes with an S-shape are used. When the sweeping dirt is to be discharged to a catch basin, a main sweeping brush with V-shaped bristles is often used.

Compared to a scrubber, a sweeper has a main brush with longer bristles. These are needed because a sweeper must also be able to handle coarser dirt particles (think drinking cups, leftover packaging material, etc.).

Scrubbing machines main brushes
For scrubbing machines, compared to main brushes of sweeping machines, the main brushes have shorter bristles. With these shorter bristles, the floor is worked intensively.

WHAT IS THE TUBE OF A MAIN BRUSH MADE OF?

The tube in the centre of the main brush is usually made of plastic, but there are also main brushes for older models of sweeping machines with a tube made of pressed cardboard.

WHAT TYPES OF BRISTLES CAN A MAIN SWEEPER BRUSH HAVE?

The material a bristle is made of determines whether the brush is suitable for loosening and discharging stuck dirt or whether it can remove loose dirt without damaging the floor.
