The lift mast of a lift truck is the part of the machine that is, of course, really what it is all about. After all, the mast is used to lift the goods that need to be moved.
Many different versions of lift masts have been developed depending on the weight of the goods to be moved and the height at which the goods have to be picked up or put down.

Construction of the lift mast

The mast of a forklift truck consists of two or more mast sections. The mast is constructed so that when you lift higher by extending the lift cylinder, more mast sections extend.

Lift mast versions

Depending on the desired lifting height, you can choose from the following mast constructions:
- double mast with 1 extending section
- triple mast with 2 extendable sections
The advantage of a triple mast is a large lifting height at a low clearance height. However, forward visibility is often restricted by the lifting cylinders and stability decreases when the mast is extended further.
To improve the operator's forward visibility, the construction with the central lifting cylinder has been changed to two lifting cylinders placed sideways on many masts. This construction gives you better forward visibility. This is called see-through mast.

Spare parts for mast sections

The mast bearings that allow the mast sections to slide are subject to wear. The many different versions and sizes can be found in the webshop.

The lifting chain is invariably measured for wear during safety inspections. You can also measure wear yourself with a chain wear gauge. If the lifting chain has to be replaced, you will see that the webshop guides you step by step to exactly the right lifting chain.

The loading forks, forklift forks or spoons as they are called on the shop floor. Especially by sliding over the ground when picking up and putting down loads, wear occurs. 

Seal kits lifting cylinders. When there is leakage on the lifting cylinders, this can usually be remedied by fitting a new seal kit. To find the right seal kit, we need not only the lift truck data, but also the mast data.
There is often a nameplate on the lift mast with all the lift mast information. Also, some lift truck brands have a number stamped into the mast profile (often at eye level) or a number stamped into the lift cylinder itself.
