Solid rubber tires for forklifts
Solid rubber tires have long replaced pneumatic tires as the most commonly used forklift tires. The stability, comfort, and low rolling resistance of solid rubber tires have certainly contributed to this. Additionally, the absence of tire punctures with solid rubber tires prevents frustration and increases the versatility of forklifts.
Construction of Solid Rubber Tires
Solid rubber forklift tires consist of a wear-resistant rubber tread. The middle layer, called the carcass, consists of multiple layers of textile cord vulcanized into rubber. The innermost layer, the base tire, is made of rubber with a steel ring that fits perfectly onto the rim, transferring the rim's force onto the tire.
Types of Rims for Solid Rubber Tires
Forklifts can be equipped with either split rims or ring rims. Split rims are identifiable by the bolts and nuts that connect the two rim plates and are loosened when changing a tire. With a ring rim, there is just a slight curvature visible between the rim and the forklift tire, holding the tire on the rim. Once it's determined whether the forklift has split rims or ring rims, the appropriate solid rubber tire can be selected in the online shop.
